Welcome
Kårservice is the student unions' own service organisation at Linköping University. We are a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, owned by the three student-unions StuFF, LinTek och Consensus. Our mission is to provide administrative assistance to the student unions as well as cost-effective and professional service to the 26.000 students in Linköping and Norrköping.

To become a student (step by step)
If you are a new exchange student or a master student just arriving to Sweden, your first step is to visit 
Zenit building.
On the second floor you will find your coordinator:
- If you are an exchange student, you should visit Jenny Enblom or Ulrika Åstrand.
The best way of taking the first contact is to mail them at intco@liu.se
- If you are a master student you should visit Helena Iacobaeus
On mondays you can visit Helena Iacobaeus at Kåkenhus in Norrköping.
They will provide you with a checklist, how to become a student (step by step). You can also find useful information on esn:s own page or on the page for master students.
Membership-fee!
10 June 2009, Parliament decided that compulsory student union membership should be abolished from 1 July 2010. This means that students from July 1, 2010 no longer have to be a member of the student union.
If you do choose to join, your membership-fees will be used to pay for the discounts and benefits you receive at all student union buildings in Norrköping and Linköping, and to support all the work performed by the student unions and other employees.
Without your membership, there would be no student union buildings, nor anyone who can speak in your interest against those who decide at LiU. A large part of your student fees goes also directly to your section, who ensures that you have a pleasant atmosphere in your program and that all students have a direct channel to the programs senior master and others who decide about your program.

Pay online!
This semester it is now possible to pay the fee online (union fee online). You can pay the union fee by using your creditcard or by paying through you internetbank.
Why pay online?
In an effort to reduce paper waste and to save on postage, current students will no longer receive an invoice of the union fee at home.

Mecenatcard/Discountcard
The Mecenat card is given out to students at colleges and universities. The card is free of charge, and sent out each semester. With the Mecenat card, you can buy products, services and travel with a student discount. The student union office provides Mecenat with details of who has paid the student union fee and thus is a student at the university.
SJ-and SAS-discount
In order to get student discounts, SAS and SJ basically requires that you study full-time throughout the semester. This also includes studies by 75% over the whole semester or full time studies during 15 weeks. It’s important to remember that this comprises only "new" points.
These rules are set by SAS and SJ and the payment of student union fee does therefore not automatically entitled to traveling discount. The discounts are a benefit for you as a student in Sweden.
When do I get my Mecenat card?
You should get the Mecenat card 2-3 weeks after you have registered. Make sure that the student union has your correct address; the card will be sent to the address the student union has access to at the time you pay our student union fee. If your address is wrong, the card will be returned to mecenat. If you haven’t received your card in and know that you have recently moved, please check with one of the student union. If you don´t have any adress in the student portal no card will be ordered.

Hockey!
Kårservice, in co-operation with LHC, is offering student discount on tickets for LHCs matches in Cloetta Center. The tickets are sold through the student union offices in Kårallen in accordance with the schedule below.
Concerning the tickets with student discount:
- We have 200 tickets to every mach, of which 92 are seating places. First one in place gets to sit.
- You most be able to show your student identity card both when you buy the tickets and at the game. Spot checks will be made. If you don’t have a student id card, you risk not being able to watch the game.
- The tickets are reliased according to the schedule below. The ordinary price per ticket is 100 SEK. The prices for any finals are:
- Quarter finals: 120 SEK
- Semi finals: 140 SEK
- Finals: 160 SEK
- The tickets are sold exclusive in Kårallen and we can unfortunately not reserve tickets.
Please observe that the ticket is a document of authenticity. A lost or damaged ticket can therefore not be traded in for a new one. Bought tickets are not redeemed.

Temporary loan
At Kårservice, you can apply for a temporary loan.
Which are the loan conditions to apply?
To apply, you are required to be a member of one of the student unions and besides that, be registered on a course/programme at the University of Linköping. Beside the main requirements, you also need a guarantor. If you fulfil these requirements you can apply for temporary loans up to 5.000 SEK.
Kårservice charges an administrative fee that depends on the duration of the loan. The maximum period for the lone is 7 months.
What do I have to do?
You can have the application papers sent home to you, but you need to to hand in your loan application personally at one of Kårservice's offices. Don’t forget to bring proper ID card/papers. Your guarantor also needs to stop by one of the student unions offices and sign the application. If the loan is granted, it usually takes 3-5 days before the money is transferred to your bank account. The temporary loan can NOT be handed out in cash or by check.
